Martha Norwalk's "Animal World"
began in May 1994 as the "KVI Pet Show" on Seattle talk station
KVI-AM. Martha's absolute dedication to the truth about animal behavior and
care (Martha dislikes the word "pet") including her refusal
to endorse any products or methods not absolutely in-line with her philosophy
quickly established her credibility and earned her the respect of KVI's
By early 1995, Martha had accepted an offer to join the lineup on 50,000-watt ABC network affiliate KOMO-AM, Seattle. In addition, several sponsors were inquiring as to the possibility of broadcasting the program in other cities around the country as an advertising medium for their products. Animal World Productions, Inc. was established in June of 1995, and in mid-August took ownership of the program and immediately began a simulcast arrangement with KIEV, Los Angeles.
"Animal World" is currently heard on AM 1150 KKNW in western Washington State and online on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The program consists of news from the animal world, updates on health and nutrition, interesting guests, and listener calls on animal care. Martha Norwalk, the host and animal behavior expert for "Animal World," has devoted her life to understanding and caring for animals. She maintains a private consulting practice and is a lecturer and frequent media guest. Sandy Gaston, Animal World's avian expert and call-screener could very easily do a radio show of her own (and often provides animal tips and advice to callers who don't make it on the show). Sandy also maintains a private consulting practice which includes her expertise in the ancient art of Feng Shui.
"Animal World" currently broadcasts from the new studios of AM 1150 KKNW. Animal World Productions is actively pursuing affiliate relations with radio stations all over the country in the effort to distribute the show to as wide an audience as possible.
